Jewish Flavors Cookbook

Designing a cookbook allowed me to connect food and family in a way I have not before. Seeing real recipes my great-grandma cooked for my mother created a new perspective on how home cooked meals create memories and carry history. I knew immediately that I wanted to focus on my Jewish side of the family for my book because so much of our history has already been lost. The book also feels extremely personal to me because of the countless I spent illustrating each dish. I did not want any recipe to feel like it did not get the same attention to detail over another, so highlighted important aspects in each one. I also knew that I wanted to have a fairly simple layout, with images on the left, and content on the right. Later, I incorporated more patterns and colors that wrapped the book in a homey and gentle style.
